Can You Be Both a Megalomaniac & a Wild Poet?
On ambition, creativity, and the tension between building an empire and running away to the woods.
Entering the world like a cannon’s fire,
wild, unscripted, uncanned—
playful in our chaos, organic in our bloom.
But the vacuum waits.
Where has the spontaneity gone?
Roses wilt when stripped of their thorns,
softness left defenseless, beauty left contained.
They say growth is inevitable,
but sometimes it bends backward, folding in.
Regressive, transgressive—
where is the line between breaking and becoming?
This poem came to me while listening to music—totally unplanned. But when I read it back, it hit me in a way I didn’t expect. Maybe it’s because I’ve been wrestling with something big: my desire to be the ultimate visionary, the industry disruptor, the entrepreneur who dominates the market… and, at the same time, the part of me that wants to escape to a quiet house in the countryside, writing, surrounded by messy, unkempt grass and animals, only dipping into the city when I feel like it.
Both versions of me exist. And right now, I don’t know which one I want to be more.
We’re constantly told we have to choose. Be the poet or the executive. The artist or the entrepreneur. But I call bullshit. We can be both.
I’ve been in deep transformation mode for the last year and a half. My friend Aisha Marshall, author of Butterfly SZN, would call this my cocoon season. And even now, I’m not entirely out of it. When you’re in this phase, you only want to break free, to be the thriving butterfly. But it's not always possible if you’re still figuring things out.
Life is a rollercoaster for anyone but as an entrepreneur? That rollercoaster is like the Superman ride at Six Flags. You know, the one that shoots you BEYOND high into the air and then drops you at 70 mph all at once? Yeah. The one I will NEVER freaking do as an adult, but as a kid, I was like, "Hell yes!" 😂
That’s what this season of life has felt like. And honestly? I want to talk about that more.
We don’t talk enough about how it’s OKAY not to have everything figured out and still be an authority. You don’t have to brand yourself as a marketing or business genius making 347,289,427,394 figures to instill confidence, hope, and education in others. You can be a real person. People crave that.
Also—TMI, but according to my period tracking app, I’m four days out, and the hormones have been hitting HARD lately. As a 38-year-old woman who’s ALSO contemplating children (post for another day), I can only take that as affirmation that my eggs are still there and my body is still doing its thing.
And honestly, it’s wild how we’re expected to juggle it all—business, ambition, life decisions, hormones—while still showing up like a boss. Some days, it feels effortless. On other days, it’s the Superman rollercoaster all over again—no brakes, just vibes.
📌 Monday Mashup: Business, Media, & Tech
✅ 1. Not aliens—just SpaceX. When SpaceX launched its latest rocket, social media erupted, with people thinking they saw UFOs. 🚀 The fact that so many mistook it for alien activity just proves how rare it is for everyday people to witness actual space exploration. At some point, space travel will soon become so normalized we will no longer think it’s wild.
✅ 2. Influencer marketing is shifting—long-term ambassadorships & LinkedIn campaigns are the future. Gone are the days of one-off, transactional brand deals. The most innovative brands are now locking in long-term influencer partnerships to drive real trust and loyalty. But here’s the fundamental shift: brands are leveraging LinkedIn for B2C influencer campaigns. I’ve been saying this for a while—LinkedIn is evolving beyond corporate thought leadership, and companies are finally catching on. Influencers on LinkedIn are about to get paid in ways we haven’t seen before.
✅ 3. Hormozi Fever is real. Everywhere I turn, someone is quoting Alex Hormozi, and honestly, I get it. His “make an offer so good people feel dumb saying no” mindset has changed how people think about business. But what’s funny? I randomly saw him at Whole Foods in Las Vegas, just casually shopping for clean food. Even business titans have to meal prep. 😂
✅ 4. Scaling a business doesn’t mean scaling you. The biggest myth in entrepreneurship is that growth means doing more. Sometimes, it means doing less—but better. The true scale comes from systems, delegation, and knowing when to step back. Hustle culture is outdated—efficiency culture is the real flex.
📌 What’s On My Radar (Lifestyle + Product Recs)
📖 Fiction I’m Reading: Doctor Sleep by Stephen King. If you don’t know, this is the sequel to The Shining, following a grown-up (and deeply flawed) Danny Torrance. Probably not the best bedtime reading, but I’ve always loved a good, engrossing thriller. 😉
📖 Non-Fiction I’m Reading: Never Play It Safe by Chase Jarvis. This book was gifted to me by Chris Harder, founder of EEM (Elite Entrepreneur Mastermind), who’s known for sharing wisdom from his circle of innovative entrepreneurs. Chase Jarvis—world-renowned photographer and founder of Creative Live—dives into the power of letting your guard down and making space for the creative work that fuels both business and life. 🔥
🛍 Stuff I’m loving: Currently curating my Amazon Influencer Storefront with all my go-to travel, work, and CEO lifestyle must-haves. Let me know in the comments what product categories you’d love recommendations for!
💻 Tech I’m into: Playing around with Sora—anyone else diving into it? Thoughts?

This is such an interesting take! The tension between ambition and self-awareness is something I see all the time in the creative world—especially for mission-driven creatives who want to make an impact without getting lost in the noise. I love the reminder that confidence and humility can (and should) coexist. It’s not about shrinking yourself or over-inflating your presence, but about building something meaningful in a way that aligns with your values. Really enjoyed this!
